I’ve got nine poems all ready to post on my poetry Tumblr. None of these are works from Write Nothing itself: they’re all unique free content for my blog.
Starting from 6 p.m. tonight, I’ll be posting a poem every fifteen minutes and adding links to each individual poem to this post so you can access them all from one place or read them one at a time as they go up.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that before I published my first poetry book “Under the Tree” via CreateSpace and Kindle, I published a first edition using Blurb!
Here’s a comparison between the two versions. The current Kindle cover is on the right; the first edition, the left!
Yep, that’s right: my third poetry book and the final volume in the Circle Cover series is coming very soon!
Have you seen the trailer? If not, here it is again!
But that’s just the short trailer! I’ll be releasing a longer trailer (which might contain one of the poems from book) on 1st March 2016. Please come back to see that!
And in the mean time, here’s a more detailed preview picture that includes the photo that will be on the cover!
If you saw my micro-trailer, you’ll know that I promised you something today. And here it is:
I’m publishing a new poetry book!
Yep! Following on the heels of “Under the Tree” and “Dark Heart” comes a brand new book. I’ll release more details in a trailer coming 1st February 2016, but for now, here’s the title:
Well it’s been rather quiet and empty here for a while, hasn’t it? I meant to update weeks ago, but what can I say? Life’s been incredibly busy for me recently. I graduated from university with a First, I moved into a new bedroom, and I’ve started a Master’s Degree. But that’s no excuse for going completely silent here, and for that I apologise. On the plus side, though, I’ve got three big bits of news to share with you. So let’s get going!
First of all, I shared on my Facebook recently that I’d written three articles for International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom (IPW:UK), a Kent-based wrestling company, to use in their show programmes. I’m happy to announce that this has now become a regular thing and in all likelihood, I will be contributing to their programmes for the foreseeable future!
This includes: event reviews (like the one of Future 8 in the second 11YA programme); match previews (like the one for Sammy Smooth versus Tommaso Ciampa in the Just Too Good programme); and focus pieces (like the one about the GZRS in the Supershow 2015 programme).
IPW:UK do programmes at most of their main shows and they’re available free with a VIP ticket purchase or for a small fee at the event. If you’re interested in reading some of the stuff I write about wrestling these days, check it out!
Zillion Press bought a piece of flash fiction from me for their anthology “Polychrome Ink: Volume II”. It’s a little piece inspired by my own struggles with writer’s block and depression called “That Dreamy Girl”.
The entire anthology can be bought online from the publisher’s website or from various other places including Amazon and Createspace. To find all the purchasing options, click this link to Zillion Press’s Store page and give it a look.
And finally, the big news I’ve been taunting you with for quite a while.
You may remember that for my Final Year Independent Study for my BA, I created a playlist of ten poetry videos. If you enjoyed those, celebrate: I have poems written for five more.
Yes, you read that correctly: I have five more poetry videos ready to be made. But these won’t be going on YouTube! Instead, I’ll be putting the these five new videos, plus the ten from YouTube and some “Making Of” type features, onto a DVD!
Right now, I still have to undergo the filming process for the new videos, so this probably won’t be happening until somewhere around the summer of 2016. I’ll keep you updated on the progress as I start filming and let you know how everything goes.
Oh, and here’s the playlist for the old videos in case you never got around to watching them!
The build-up to the release of “Dark Heart” seems to be going well!
I’ve been publishing one poem per day since last Tuesday and the response has been good for the most part.
I’ll be posting a new poem on Penny Gotch Poetry every day from now until the publication of “Dark Heart” (with double posts on Sundays!). So keep an eye on that Tumblr, my Twitter feed or my Facebook page!
Thank you so much for your great response to my Final Year Independent Study videos. I have tentative results for the project: it looks like I have a First, and I couldn’t have done that without you.
Haven’t seen the videos? Not a problem! You can check out the playlist right here.
And every single one has closed captions, so they should be accessible to you even if you’re D/deaf, Hard of Hearing, have auditory processing issues, etc.
I hope you’re also happy to hear that I’m working on five new poetry videos that, together with the ten I’ve made, will be going onto a DVD! I don’t have even a tentative release date for that yet, but I hope to have that available for you before the autumn.
The DVD will come with the ten poetry videos from YouTube, five new poetry videos never before seen, and hopefully a video or two explaining my writing process and giving some trivia about the poems and videos themselves.
But there is something I do have a release date for: my next poetry book!
If you didn’t already know, I self-published a poetry book called “Under the Tree” early last year and put it on Amazon in the late autumn. If you’re interested, you can check it out here.
And I think it’s high time that I followed up with a sequel!
I don’t want to give too much away because I’m not going to be publishing it for another three weeks. But I’m going to share the title with you today: “Dark Heart“.
