Sewing Projects: Part One

Part One of how many? I have no idea. Have some sewing pictures.

A photograph of a shield-shaped piece of wood with a handle made of string across the top to hang it up by. The word "loved" has been back-stitched across it in yellow thread.

I got this one as a kit in a Build-Your-Own-Buddybox from Blurt (not sponsored – *Marge Simpson meme* I just think they’re neat). It’s one of three I’ve done. The others will turn up eventually.

A photo of a small brown felt bear with a cream stomach and a ribbon emerging from the top of its head. Its legs and one arms are decorated with embroidered purple flowers, green leaves and pale pink stars.

This bear was a kit from Aldi. The various pieces of felt came pre-cut with the threads and I just put it together and stuffed it, but it was tremendously fun. I also ended up doing three of these. And now I’m thinking about that quote from an episode of Sherlock I never personally watched.

A photograph of a cross-stitched poem decorated with green decorative curls, two hourglasses, two hearts and a salt shaker. The poem reads “how strange – all that separates our flesh is time yet your heart is an ocean away and all my boats are salt”.

I started sewing this to enter a competition – poetry in a medium other than text, basically – but never finished it in time. Now I have it framed and hanging up in my kitchen. Because of course I’d want to put a cross-stitch I designed of a poem I wrote on the wall in my house. What raging conceit monster wouldn’t?

A cross-stitch of a molar tooth with a cute smiling face on it. Above and below it are text reading “CLEAN YOUR TEETH”, with the E’s and H in TEETH rendered in letters with tiny toothbrushes attached.

That toothbrush font? I made that up. Really damn proud of it as well. As for the tooth, that’s from DailyCrossStitch, where I get most of my patterns (it’s their Tooth Fairy sans wings and crown).

And that’s it for today!
