This my first blog post in a long time, isn’t it?
I’m going to be honest: the past few months have not been easy for me. Shortly before I vanished, I made a post about my anxiety (which you can read here). That teamed up with clinical depression and a heavy university workload to knock me for six.
But I’ve returned for two reasons. First, I’m in a better place mentally and feel ready to reconnect with you. I’ve missed talking to you about my writing process, my achievements and my goals.

And the second is my Final Year Independent Study (FYIS) for university.
I mentioned on my Facebook page that I was going to make a post here about putting some poetry on my poetry Tumblr. I still intend to do that, but first, I’ve got a different poetry project to share with you.
My FYIS is on Poetry as Performance. To make a long story short, I’ve written ten poems and I’m turning them into short YouTube videos. I’ll be uploading and sharing one video per day for the next ten days, starting from tomorrow.

You’ll be able to find them on my YouTube account and I’ll also be embedding them here and posting links on Facebook and Twitter.
I’ve had a lot of fun writing these poems and making these videos, and I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
And if they get a good response, I may go about publishing a cheap DVD with all the videos on it plus a few more exclusive for those who buy. Watch that space!
Thank you for being patient with me, and I hope you enjoy my FYIS work.

I’ve been quiet on this blog since the autumn began. The Summer of Writing 2014 has ended, and that left me at a bit of a loose end.
But now I’m back and ready to blog.
You’ll be seeing updates twice a week on Sunday and Wednesday from now on.
So what’s Sunday?

Anything I want to write. My writing process, my week at university, my published works: anything I think is worth telling you about.
And today, I’m bringing some big news.
My poetry book “Under the Tree” is on sale!
For the next two weeks only, you can buy a copy for 20% off the recommended price of £5.
That’s just £4 per copy.
And as an added bonus, I’m offering free P&P to anywhere in the UK.
But why am I putting this book on sale, you ask?
Because it won’t be available for much longer.
Yes: this is your last chance to buy “Under the Tree” in its current form.
After the two week sale is over, you will not be able to get the paperback of “Under the Tree” anywhere.
There are just four copies left. Can you give one a good home?

Want to order a book? Want to request some samples of my poetry before you buy? Just want to say hello?
Then drop me a message in the comments, on Twitter (@pennygotch), on Facebook or via e-mail.
And remember: you’ve only got two weeks before the “Under the Tree” paperback is gone!

Hello and welcome to another Writing Goals post!

Image © Penny Gotch.
I have only two goals this week: finish Blue Skye, and start Camp NaNoWriMo!
I’m only doing a half NaNo this time (25k) because I want to finish Blue Skye AND I’m going to Canada for a week this month. So I don’t want to push myself under too much pressure!
In other news, I was shortlisted for the “Art in the Underpass” competition, but didn’t win. Even so, I performed my poem Canterbury in Westgate Gardens.
And thanks to my lovely parents, Hugh and Becky Gotch, the performance is now on YouTube, which you can see below!
I hope you enjoy it!
Just another short post to let you know that I haven’t forgotten this blog or the Summer of Writing 2014!
I haven’t really accomplished much this week. Why? Who knows? It just happens sometimes.
However, I will be on the main lawn of Westgate Gardens in Canterbury to perform a poem! I was shortlisted in the Art in the Underpass competition. And after the performances, we’ll find out who the winners are!
It might be me!
I’ll also be bringing three copies of “Under the Tree” to sell.
So if you’re interested, please do come!
See you Monday!

Interested by the title? I hope you are! But before that…
My news article for Her Campus about the latest Assassin’s Creed game has gone live!
And here are my writing goals for the week:

And here’s the big announcement!
I’ve self-published my own poetry book!

“Under the Tree” is my first chapbook collection. Right now, you can only get this in hard copy direct from me. Will it be on Kindle? Yes, but not until the beginning of July.
I’ve ordered 20 copies and 9 have been reserved already. That means there are 11 copies left waiting for a good home!
Each book is 30 pages long and costs £5.70 (including P&P to anywhere in the UK).
Interested?
Let me know! You can contact me in the comments here, on Twitter (@pennygotch) or Facebook, or via e-mail.
